Continuity, Issued is a civilization rebuilt after collapse. Advanced technology has replaced magic, but mythic forms endure because they work, last, and carry cultural meaning. The inhabited world is an ancient artificial ring around a sun—a familiar fact of life for the people who call it home.
Restrained institutions maintain cities and infrastructure through audited systems and standardized forces. Independent operators, deniable specialists, and post-institutional cultures work in the gaps where those systems fail or are deliberately rejected. Ascendants, bonded to legacy technology from an overconfident earlier age, are living symbols and powerful crisis assets. Deploying them can be politically dangerous.
The people at the center of these tensions are professionals, not chosen ones. Slab and Hardpoint stabilize collapse zones; Crosswire and Blink exploit institutional blind spots; Bluebird may override a mission to preserve life; FAYE and the MCA enforce order; and Vale can reshape events simply by being seen.
The world is stable but uneasy: built by experts, haunted by past failures. Progress didn’t erase myth; it changed the interface.
